3. Making It In KC – The Web Page Making It In KC is a four-month training program that will prepare you for entry-level manufacturing positions. You will develop skills in computer literacy, problem solving, decision making, teamwork, applied math, blueprint reading, mechanics and precision measurement.
Each graduate will earn a certificate of completion, 12 hours of MCC credit, an OSHA General Industry Outreach Card and priority consideration for a position with:

4. Making It In KC – The Syllabus Making It In KC (MIIKC) is a 256-hour training program to prepare students for entry-level manufacturing positions. MIIKC is made possible by several partner companies and endorsers. MIIKC is funded in part by a grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration. Students will develop skills in computer literacy, problem solving, decision making, teamwork, applied math, manufacturing principles, blueprint reading, mechanics and precision measurement.
Upon successful completion of the program, each participant will earn a certificate of completion, 12 hours of MCC credit, an OSHA General Industry Outreach Card, Green Belt Certification (optional) and priority consideration for a position with one of the partner companies.

8. The Sidecar Goals To teach the importance of teamwork.

To teach the importance of intra-team cooperation.
To teach the importance of cross-training.
9. Sidecar Rules Each team has enough parts to assemble a sidecar.
Each team is provided instructions on how to assemble a sidecar.
In addition to the items included in the kit, each team is provided bowls and pens.

14. Archipelago Rules The Islands There are four islands in the archipelago.
No island has fresh water. Water is obtained from the mainland in exchange for products.
Each island has a specialty:
The natives of the first island dive for oysters.
The natives of the second island shuck the oysters, and remove pearls
The natives of the third island drill a hole in each pearl
The natives of the fourth island string pearls on necklaces.

25. Archipelago Rules Ishtar Each island has a volcano.
Each week, the islanders consume one barrel of fresh water.
Each week, one barrel of fresh water is “sacrificed” to Ishtar, the God of the Volcano.
After three weeks with no sacrifice, Ishtar erupts, destroying the island.
26. Archipelago Rules Transportation Each island has two canoes.
If a canoe needs to be replaced, it takes two weeks to construct another canoe.
It takes one-half day to go from the island to the mainland, and one-half day to return.

31. Hypocycloid Rules There is enough raw material to build multiple hypocycloids.
Each team member is given instructions on how to safely operate all necessary machines (mills, drills, presses, etc.).
Each team is given written instructions on how to fabricate the parts, and how to assemble a hypocycloid from the parts.
32. The Hypocycloid Exercise Your mission: Create rules to run the Hypocycloid Exercise that will meet the exercise’s goals.
