  1. Counter Reformation Jigsaw Persecution: Jews and Muslims BY: Kelly lee and Julianne Santos Period 2

  2. WHAT HAPPENED? • Luther though of Jews and Muslims as heretics. Because of this Jews and Muslims had two options, they could convert to Christianity, or leave Spain. • Those that didn’t convert left Spain and settled in other parts of Europe where they were less restricted. • During the middle ages the Jews were forced to live in the “Ghetto”, which was a certain park of the city. • The “Ghetto’s” were walled in and had gates that closed at a certain time each night. • The Jews and Muslims were not welcomed in all parts of Europe

  3. WHO WAS INVOLVED? • Luther, Catholics and other protestants were involved. • They views Jews and Muslims as heretics. • Heretics are people with different opinions and espelcially those who don’t agree with the teaching of the Catholic Church.

  4. HOW DOES THIS EVENT SHOW RELIGIOUS DISUNITY IN Europe? • The persecution of Jews and Muslims shows religious disunity in Europe because Luther and Christians did not agree with the Jewish and Muslim religions. • This made problems in Europe because Jews and Muslims had to leave, but obviously didn’t want to leave. • It started arguments within different parts of Europe because people were not tolerant of differences in other people.
