  4. P.M.A. & G.S. I know that statement is almost cliché in our circles butif you’re breathing I’m interested.

  5. P.M.A. & G.S. People are my passion. • It all started in 1986 in England at a homeless shelter. My job was to organize and create activities that helped to get our clients minds off of their troubles. • Pool • Babington (you say badminton) • Table tennis (you say Ping Pong) • We created competitive games and tournaments that helped the clients to feel a part of a group and most importantly helped them to feel needed and valuable.

P.M.A. & G.S. • I’ve been teaching the Positive Mental Attitude & Goal Setting training for a number of years and I’ve found that people need a fan base. • We have revised the curriculum to address the Healthcare audience; particularly in adding Goal Setting • They need someone that cares enough, and identifies with their current state or situation • People need professionals that focus on their improvement and future success. • When they don’t see it; we make it our business to see it. Everyone has potential.

P.M.A. & G.S. • The curriculum and our method help the student to establish or reestablish a foundation of self-worth • Once individuals recognize their value and self worth it’s very hard to talk them out of pursuing their goals and potential. • The clients we see through the Healthcare Academy have oftentimes been disappointed by the hand life has dealt them.

P.M.A. & G.S. • From unemployment, underemployment, laid off, to inadequate training and education. • Clients have felt and experienced the worst of our socioeconomic pressures. • They face the negatives everyday and find very little to smile about. • The discussion of these aspects in a shared setting creates a bond and demonstrates “you are not alone.”

  9. P.M.A. & G.S. • A Positive Mental Attitude is a choice. • You can choose to stay where you are or you can choose do something about it.

  10. P.M.A. & G.S. • If you want different results you have to do something different. • Author Napoleon Hill said, “Keep your mind on the things you want and off the things you don’t want.” • A positive mental attitude says we have the power to redirect our thinking.

  11. P.M.A. & G.S. What kinds of things do you do to stay positive? How? We help clients to find their fire or motivation within by recognizing their strengthsthrough goal setting. • We all have strengths; we need to set goals. • What are your gifts? • When are you at your best?

  12. P.M.A. & G.S. • Our groups learn to recognize these attributes and begin empowering themselves with a positive attitude. • Studies have shown that 40% of getting a job is attitude. Students are taught to cultivate their best self every day. • Not only learning about a positive attitude, but learning how to maintain this positive attitude is the key to their success. • Identifying the things that make you happy in life is essential, recognizing your ability and potential.

P.M.A. & G.S. • Positive mental attitude training is: • The process by which you break the habit of responding negatively to a situation and develop a new habit of a positive reaction. • Becoming a “former pessimist” is a process and it takes focus and dedication to get there. • Optimists just have a better quality of life and are invaluable in the work place as they will find solutions to the challenges and the problems we face in the healthcare field.
