New – Lexile Reading Level • EBSCO • You can chose a Lexile Reading Level to qualify results in the basic search for MASUltra, Middle Search, TopicSearch and Searchasaurus, and Lexile Reading Levels are limiters on the opening page of Student Research Center and under Detailed Search in Kid Search. • Grolier • Double click on For Educator, then select box on the left Search Articles by Lexile Level.

  9. Registration • Step 1. Libraries must fill out an online form • Click on New or Update above • The information loads automatically into an Access database on the ASL server. • Registration deadlines are usually 5 weeks apart, with the dates posted on the main Traveler page • Step 2.  On the registration date, the new information is compared and added to the Master Database. • None of the information is retyped, simply loaded into the database.  • Changes or new information are forwarded to the vendor representatives by the Office of Library Network Services.  • Most registrations are processed the next work day by the vendor representative. • Step 3.  An e-mail is sent from ASL to the library contact that is indicated on the registration information.  • If there is a problem with an individual registration, an e-mail is sent directly to that library. • Due to the large membership in Traveler, 99% of all communication is now done by e-mail.  • This saves on the expense of postage as well as time since there is no clerical staff in the Office of Library Network Services.

Basic Set Up • Register your library IP number(s) with the Office of Library Network Services • Cut & paste the web addresses for the vendors to your desktop or web page. • Set up links on desktop and/or web pages with icons from vendors • Remote access • a. Authenticate your users with library card numbers, student ID, etc, which allows them access through your server, or • b. Provide remote access IDs and/or passwords provided by the vendors • Do not post IDs and passwords on web pages. Hand them out on bookmarks, flyers or brochures. • IMLS Statement when promoting Traveler: This project is made possible by a grant from U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Arkansas State Library under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act. Additional state funds were provided by the Arkansas Department of Education.
