Lichens were the Pioneers of the forest

  6. Herbivores • Some of the herbivores in the Coniferous Forest include………………… • Deer • Rabbits • Mice • White Hares • And Caribou • Squirrels • Mule Deer The white hare uses camou. To hide from enemies The Deer eat many leaves and berries

  7. Carnivores • Mink • Owls • Hawks • Wolverine • Wolves • Bears The wolf is a ferocious animal that lives in the forest. There are many types of bears including the brown bear.

  8. Omnivores • Fox • Lynx • Weasel • Elk • Groundhogs • Raccoons The lynx are an interesting sight you would find here. Raccoons live in the Coniferous Forest and are a great part of it.

  9. Climate • The Climate of the Coniferous Forest is harsh. Snow and Ice cover the ground. In the winter it could get down to -90 degrees Fahrenheit! In the summer, the highest temperature it can get up to is 50 degrees Fahrenheit! Clouds are an important part of the Coniferous Forest

  10. Ecological Concerns • Some ecological concerns of the Coniferous Forest are that there are foresters cutting down all the trees which is called Deforestation. Some other concerns are forest fires and pollution. Forest Fires are a concern of ecologists today. Deforestation is also a concern ecologists have.

  11. Conservation Efforts • To make sure there are enough trees to go around people are re-planting them after they cut them down. Also they are trying to prevent forest fires.

  12. Interesting Facts Some interesting facts about the Coniferous Forest are….. • Another name for the Coniferous Forest is the Taiga and the Boreal Forest • Also the leaves on the evergreen trees have thin waxy needles to keep in moisture.
