The TICE.PT Center for Competitiveness and Technology, Center for Information, Communication and Electronics Technologies, was formally recognized by the Portuguese Government in August 2009, as part of the QREN’s Strategies for Collective Efficiency. TICE.PT’s overall strategy comprises building a coordination platform that will involve and mobilize the TICE’s main players in innovation processes, R&DT, transfer of knowledge, advanced training, development, production and marketing of products and services, marketing and internationalization. TICE.PT currently involves 49 bodies, 54% of which are Companies, 26% are part of the National Scientific and Technological System, and 20% are Associations, basically distributed throughout northern and central Portugal, as well as in the area of Lisbon and the Tagus River Valley. These 49 bodies account for a turnover of € 1,8 billion (1,16 % of GDP), € 290M in exports, M€ 124 invested in research, development and innovation and 14.000 direct jobs

Budget • • Thus, the current TICE.PT’s Plan of Action promotes the coordination of 76 Projects with a total budget estimated at € 214 M, while, at the same time, ensuring suitable articulation with the MOPTC (Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Communication) initiative linked to the launch of New-Generation Grids. • Around 20M€ for education

Anchor Project Education The project’s objectives include: • Ensuring the sustainability of an industrial line in the sphere of TICEs as applied to education and vocational training; • Adapting existing and emerging technologies, as well as methodologies for their application, for creation learning spaces of the future; • Building a scenario to integrate the classroom of the future, by including immersive technologies, sensors, smart tutors, Digital repositories, tools for school managment, tools for creating educational games.

Motivation Motivation • Following the Technological Plan for Education, which distributed in schools more than 500,000 computers in 2008-2009, the years of 2010-2011-2012 will be years for digital content both at home and in the classroom. • There is also, a growing envolvment of Local Government in schools management. (decentralization process) The Project • Create an Educational Portal, adapted to the municipality, with the aim of providing the schools and every student. The Portal contains:- Own a Virtual Community - Digital Educational Didactic Content - Other Digital Content ( Citizenship, Civic participation, introdution to politics)
