  1. Regaining Your Heart” 2019

  2. The condition of the HEART 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 8 “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’” 10 Jesus called the crowd to him and said, “Listen and understand.

  3. The condition of the HEART 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.” 12 Then the disciples came to him and asked, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this?”

  4. The condition of the HEART 13 He replied, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” 15 Peter said, “Explain the parable to us.” 16 “Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body?

  5. The condition of the HEART 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”

  6. Enoch Genesis 5:21-24 21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

  7. Enoch • Died 1000 years from Adam • He walked with God • Very close relationship with God • He received a prophetic word/ vision

  8. The Book of Enoch • Wrote a book from a vision that the Lord gave him - most believe at 65 • The Book was on the Ark • A Book that the Jews had throughout their History until today

  9. The Book of Enoch • A book that Jesus and the Disciples studied and knew • Ancient texts found - the most convincing discovery is that it was found with the Dead Sea Scrolls • A book quoted by Jesus and the Apostles in the New Testament

  10. The Book of Enoch • Enoch’s prophetic vision was a warning. It said the earth would be judged once by water and once by fire because of wickedness in the hearts of men. • Methuselah - "man of the dart/ spear“ – death sent – Coming Judgement

  11. The Book of Enoch • Forget a minute about the controversy about the book and focus on this: that Enoch received a prophesy of judgement coming to the earth • Methuselah’s firstborn son was LAMECH (DIED 192 years before his dad) but Lamech’s firstborn was Noah • Methuselah lived longer than anyone in the bible

  12. A message for a 1000 years of pending judgement Genesis tells us that Noah was 599-600 when the flood came. Genesis 7:11 (ESV) In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.

  13. A message for a 1000 years of pending judgement We can also find the age difference of Methuselah and Noah in Genesis 5, and it's 187 + 182 = 369 years

  14. A message for a 1000 years of pending judgement Genesis 5:25-29 (ESV) 25When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech. 26Methuselah lived after he fathered Lamech 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 Thus all the days of Methuselah were 969 years, and he died.

  15. A message for a 1000 years of pending judgement Genesis 5:25-29 (ESV) 28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son 29and called his name Noah, saying, "Out of the ground that the LORD has cursed this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands."

  16. A message for a 1000 years of pending judgement So, if Noah was 600 when the flood happened, Methuselah was 600 + 369 = 969. That is, he died around the time of flood

  17. Wickedness in their heart Genesis 6:5-8 5Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.

  18. Wickedness in their heart Genesis 6:5-8 7 So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” 8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

  19. 2 Peter 2:5 … and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly

  20. Jesus Matthew 24:37-39 (NKJV) 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be

  21. As it was in the days of Noah • did not know until the flood came and took them • Enoch told them • Methuselah told them • Noah was a preacher of righteousness (flood) • Hearts filled with evil (unable to hear) • Would not acknowledge God or serve His leadership

  22. Hearts Away From God In the days of Noah they mocked and made fun of the idea of the flood. Their hearts were so filled with evil, they could not believe the message from Noah and that the prophecy from Enoch was going to happen. Jesus warns us that, just like in Noah’s day, people would be going on with life as usual, and because their hearts would not be open to the reality of Jesus and His return, they would not serve Him from their hearts.

  23. The Books Of Enoch And Jude 14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

  24. Jude 16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. 17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ:

  25. Jude 18 how they told you that there would be mockers (scoffers) in the last timewho would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. 19 These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit

  26. 2 Peter 3 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.”

  27. 2 Peter 3 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

  28. 2 Peter 3 8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

  29. Timeline • Fall until to Enoch death was about 1000 years (4004 to 4000 BC) • Enoch until the Flood was about 1000 years ( Pre Flood (2000 years) • Flood to Jesus about 2000 years • From Jesus to us about 2000 years • Total 6000 years most creationist believe (What about science saying billions of years?) • 1000 years as a day to God (6 days) Millennial Reign (Rest)

  30. 2 Peter 3 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

  31. 2 Peter 3 10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. 11 Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,

  32. 2 Peter 3 12 looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.

  33. Hearts • The battle is for your hearts • Satan wants to distract your heart - your affections • He wants to kill your heart, steal from your heart, and destroy your heart

  34. Hearts • Jesus wants to bring life to your heart • He wants to awaken your heart to His love, yes, and to the hour we live • To be Preachers of Righteousness like Noah

  35. Regaining Your Hearts 2019 Joel 2:13 (NLT) Don’t tear your clothing in your grief,    but tear your hearts instead. "Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish

  36. James 5 7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. 8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand
