Dragons Den • Think of a business you could create in Cramlington. • In pairs make a 2 minute presentation to the rest of the class. • It should show:- • What your business idea is. • Why you think this would be a good idea. • Who your typical customers might be. • Which skills you would need to run this business. • Where it might be • What would you need to make the business • What equipment do you need, • Do you need any other people, • How much money would you need • You have 45 minutes to make your presentation, you may use sugar paper to create a visual aid.

  6. What makes an Enterprising Person? Your group will now visit social block where you will meet a range of entrepreneurs from local business. It is important you ask questions and find out what makes these people so enterprising. What skills, qualities and attributes do they have and why have they been a success?

  7. What is an enterprising person and what do they do? What does an enterprising person do? Why have they been successful? What skills did they have? Using a comparison alley diagram compare two of the enterprising people you met. What similarities and differences are there?

  8. What qualities does an entrepreneur have? Think about what it takes to be a great entrepreneur or an enterprising person. Using the wall paper, you are to create a Super-Entrepreneur, this should be a person with all of the skills and qualities you think it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. You need to draw around someone lightly, then add features that make that person a great entrepreneur, E.g. they may have big hands for grasping opportunities

  11. Production Challenge Challenge:- Today you will make some corporate gifts that you can give out to your visitors at your super science stall and your personal challenge stall. The gifts should all have a science based or challenge theme.

  12. What to do? • Success Criteria: • You will have made as much profit as possible. • You will have produced a range of gifts to be given out at Exhibition Day. These will all have a science based design or a challenge theme. • You will have been responsible for making significant contribution to the success of the team. • You will have been resourceful as a team

What to do? • Decide what you are going to produce • Design your products and trial your ideas with your friends • Choose the best design • Agree a price with the 6th Form Business Students • Buy the materials you need to make the products • Make the products. • Think about:- • How to minimise the amount of materials you need. • How to organise your group so you produce lots

  14. Timeline Work out the challenge 12.15pm Production of a variety of gifts You should end up with a whole variety of gifts to give out on Saturday. You should try different designs and gifts. Lunch Calculate finances and tidy up 2.45pm

  15. Sales Pitch The main buyers from WH Smith have heard about your ideas and are keen to hear a sales pitch from you. Watch the sales pitch video. What are the similarities between the different sellers? Why are they effective? Your group needs to produce a sales presentation that would tell a potential buyer about your products. It should last no longer than 5 minutes. It might involve 1 person or most of the group, you decide. It should be: Lively ·Interesting ·Clear Persuasive
