  2. Are You My Mother?By P.D. Eastman • A mother bird sat on her egg. • The egg jumped. • “Oh, oh!” said the mother bird. “My baby will be here.! He will want to eat.”

  3. “I must get something for my baby bird to eat!” she said. “I will be back!” • So away she went. • The egg jumped. It jumped, and jumped, and jumped! • Out came the baby bird!

  4. Why Bother? “Parents who struggle with reading are sometimes reluctant to read with their children. However, children with a wide variety of reading experiences are better prepared to learn to read than children who do not have such experiences.” www.readingrockets.org/lp.php?CID=8

  5. Reading Aloud With Your Child • Get in the habit • Cuddle • Slide your finger under the words • Use interesting voices!

  8. Listening to Your Child Read Aloud • Tell the word if your child needs help • Do not stop the reading to correct mistakes… please 
