  2. Procedure Introduction Visited network Home network DHCP server • HA address acquirement from DHCP server HAs 2. Home registration MN • A MN (mobile node ) requests a home agent’s address from a DHCP server • The MN registers its current location to the home agent

  3. Problem • The DHCP server could be DHCPv4 or DHCPv6 • draft-ietf-mip6-hiopt-17.txt (Now in RFC Ed Queue) is only applicable to DHCPv6 servers

  4. Solution • This draft defines corresponding DHCPv4 options • Home Network Information Option Option-code OPTION_DSMIP6_HNINF (TDB) • DSMIPv6 Relay Agent Option Option-code OPTION_DSMIP6_RELAY (TBD)

Frank propsed this as MEXT item in May 2008 • http://www.ietf.org/mail-archive/web/mext/current/msg02729.html In March 2009, Jari said “Ok, got it. We can easily define an RFC to do this. Write it up and send it to me... ”
