  2. Requirements: 4 credits of English 4 credits of Math 4 credits of Science 4 credits of Social Studies 2 credits of Foreign Language ½ credit of Health 1 credits of PE ½ credit of Speech 1 credit of Fine Arts 5 credits of Electives TOTAL: 26

  3. World Language2.0 Credits • Both credits must be in the same language • Languages offered: • Spanish • French • Sign Language

  4. Health Credit.5 Credit • Must be : • .5 credit Health Education • 1 credit Principles of Health Science Speech.5 Credit • Communication Applications

  5. Physical Education1.0 Credit • 1.0 physical education (one and done) PE Substitutions (earn up to 4 credits) • Athletics • Marching Band-1st semester only • Cheerleading • JROTC • Dance PE • Angels

  6. Fine Arts1.0 Credit • Must be full credit of one of the following • Choir • Band • Orchestra • Dance • Art • Theatre Arts • AP Music Theory (ability to read/write music required 11- 12 only) • Music History H (11-12 only) • AP Art History (11-12 only)

  7. Technical Education Center • Some of these classes are two-year commitments and take 2 or 3 periods of your day. Please make sure you have room in your schedule. • You must apply on line for the Tech Ed programs. http://campuses.fortbendisd.com/forms/tec.cfm

  8. Application Only Programs • Newspaper • Yearbook • PALS • Business Marketing Co-op • Health Science See sponsors for applications. You cannot register for these courses online.

  9. Electives5.0 Credits • Can choose any 5.0 credits of classes from any area • If they are in addition to what is required, they are considered an elective. • Ex. 3rd year of a foreign language or 5th year of science

  10. Choose electives wisely!!! • Elective schedule changes are not permitted after verifications sheets are returned!! • You are not allowed to drop a year long course at semester.

  11. STAAR You must pass the End of Course (EOC) exams that are given each year in May. English I English II Algebra I Biology US History

  15. Check Your Credits • Utilize the Credit Assessment Report and your transcript to determine what credits you may still need. • If you find any errors please email your counselor ASAP. This is VERY IMPORTANT

  17. Review your 4 year plan • The FBISD website has sample four year plans for review. • We will complete 4 Year Plans in the Computer Lab after verifying your online course selections, on Thursday, February 20. • Get involved in extracurricular activities and your community

  18. DUE DATES • Course selection worksheets are due back to your social studies teacher by February 20. • Online course selection is available from Wednesday, February 12 – Friday, February 28. • Course selection verification window is March 7-21. Change requests must be submitted to your Counselor in writing.

PreAP/AP Courses A 90-100 = 6 B 80-89 = 5 C 75-79 = 4 D 70-74 = 3 F 69 and below = 0 All Other Courses A 90-100 = 5 B 80-89 = 4 C 75-79 = 3 D 70-74 = 2 F 69 and below = 0 How to Calculate GPA GPA is calculated by semester. To calculate your GPA, assign the proper point value to each of your semester averages, add them together and divide by 7.
