Due to education policy of the Dutch government there is a shift from Papiamento (Netherlands Antilles, before 10-10-10) to Dutch as language of instruction in the primary school Papiamento is since 10-10-10 no more a mandatory examination subject In terms of percentage the native speakers of Papiamento on Bonaire is declining (1981: population of 8,500 ofwhich 93% was born in The Netherlands Antilles; 2011: 15.666 ofwhich 63% speakers) Bonaireans fear for loss of language and culture Need for protection Committee of Experts ECRML– 3 di mart 2016
