  2. Week 5: Human Resource Management • The third function of Management-Leading • the first two are planning and organizing. • What is HR? What do they do? How do managers attract, obtain, retain, and train to maintain an effective workforce?

  4. Emotional Intelligence • What are the five elements of (EI) • Self-awareness: A person's ability to be in tune with how he or she is feeling. In general, the more self-aware a person is, the better that person is at guiding his or her life and behavior. • Managing emotions: A person's ability to manage his or her anxieties, fears, and anger so that these emotions do not interfere with the person's ability to get things done. • Motivating oneself: A person's ability to remain optimistic and to be able to strive to achieve and be successful. • Empathy: A person's ability to understand how others are feeling in a given situation. • Social skills: A person's ability to enter and sustain positive interpersonal relationships • How to synthesize the learnings about motivation with EI • Motivation versus Morale • The Tw0-Factor Theory
