  5. From the responses given, many college students dress in whatever they feel most comfortable wearing. For the most part they dress very casual. Everyone’s perspective changes when it comes to wearing clothes especially when the seasons change. College students generally wear shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops when it’s warm. While in the winter, students wear jeans, shirts, hoodies and warm shoes. Many students tend to dress comfortably due to the long days in school. In this picture we can see that most are wearing sneakers, boots, baggy sweaters, and t-shirts. Everyone dresses similar but there some variety of styles that make students stand out.

  6. Alain Photo of Adam

  7. Alain’s Interview of Adam Is there a Brooklyn College style? It is very hard to answer that question. I believe that Brooklyn being a community in New York City with students coming from different boroughs has a diverse style. It reflects the variety of New York. In This picture we have this gentleman Adam who is really passionate about fashion. He told me that in this picture he was rushing and put something together .He said that he usually incorporates in his clothes the 60s ,70s 90s .He is also fascinated by the jazz style of that era years. I find him convincing and sure of his choice of clothing.

  8. Adam described his style to me as being a classical mash up of 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. In the attached picture he described it as being more of an 80’s Style. The feel that I get from most Brooklyn college students is that it’s a more lay back sense of style a Comfortable clothing style. 10. Brooklyn College sTyle? • For our project we chose a Brooklyn College senior named Sejiro. He felt the style would have to just be a casual own inherent style. • Sejiro chose to wear sweat pants, sweat shirt and sneakers because he likes to be comfortable. He travels far, so to wear anything but sweat pants it would be out of the ordinary. • He also stated that he travels 2 hours on the MTA a day just to come to Brooklyn College from Staten Island everyday.

  11. Contd. • Sejiro is not looking to make any impression on anyone. He feels many students come to the college dressing the same way he does everyday. • From Sejiro’s point of view “Many students come dressed up because they are usual going to work right after, I don’t go to work right after school because my days are usually too long to have both school and work all tied in one. So I don’t feel I need to come dressed any other way than comfortable.”

  12. Contd. • Sejiro classifies his style as “casual relaxed”. You don’t really see many kids come dressed up for school during the mornings. Now at nights that is a different story. I've seen more kids dressed up for school at night than I do during the mornings/midafternoon. He believes everyone dresses the same way he does mostly for the mornings/midafternoon. • Sejiro felt he its not trying to fit in with anyone else and their style, he wears what he wants to wear because he likes too. But, he stated he wears mostly Nike/Jordan products.

  14. Diamond Suarez

  15. What do Brooklyn College students say about their style? • Christina: Tell us what you are wearing today. • Diamond: I am wearing pants from Express, a sweater from H&M and boots from MACY’S. • Sophia: Why did you choose these clothes? • Diamond: I was in a rush this morning and didn’t know what to wear and this sweater goes with everything so that’s why I chose the sweater. I chose the pants because I like them and I haven't worn them in a while. • Christina: What kind of impression do you like to make? • Diamond: I'm not trying to make any specific impression with this outfit but I usually don't like to draw to much attention so I'm pretty low key. • Sophia: Do you believe there is a certain look on campus? • Diamond: I think there are several different looks on campus that some people tend to gravitate towards. Overall I would say that the majority of people do not dress in one specific way. • Christina: Do you dress similar to people on campus? • Diamond: No

  16. Jimmy’ Photo

  17. Analysis He is wearing a black t-shirt, a black Uniqlo hoodie, a black pair of jeans, and a pair of white Vans sneakers. He likes to wear clothes that are dark so if it gets dirtied, it would be hard to spot. Since he doesn’t want to wear all black because it would look dull, he decided to wear a pair of white Vans. There isn’t a special reason for him to choose to buy these clothes that he is wearing. It is just simply inexpensive. Mostly, he would only buy clothes that are on sale. There isn’t any particular impression that he wants to make to people. He only wears whatever it is comfortable to him. He isn’t the type of person who wears to impress other people. He thinks that students in Brooklyn College like to dress casually with all sorts of clothing. He just like one of them enjoys being comfortable in a casual clothing style.

  19. Shekira Lewis Style

  20. What do Brooklyn College students say about their style? Hi Shekira, could you tell us about what you are wearing and why? How were your choices made? What kind of impression were you trying to make by choosing your outfit? On a daily basis when I attend school I choose to dress casual comfortable and simple. My outfit usually includes jeans, a sweater and boots for this winter season. I don’t believe that I want to make a certain impression, I just wear whatever is comfortable and appropriate for school. Do you think there is a certain look on campus? If so how would you describe it? I do believe that there are different looks on campus depending on the season and also what it means to dress comfortable is subjective to each individual. The winter time sets more limitations on certain outfits choices. Whereas in the spring and summer time you can clearly see more expressive styles that are not covered up with a coat and layers. But from my observations overall I would say that there in no one look or style on campus depending on culture and religion we see a variety of different looks on campus. Do you think you have a similar style to Brooklyn College student? I do believe that I have a similar style to what is worn by the majority of Brooklyn college students. Similar maybe not, as far as brand but as an overall style that's everyday comfortable.

  27. Group Fashion Field Project Diana, Nataly, Alexandra

  28. Diana’s style Choices • My style choices really depend on a number of different factors. For the most part I try to mix comfort and a classic/contemporary style together. Sometimes I add some sportswear & bohemian elements to my outfit choices as well. Comfortable knits/dresses/leggings/pants that could be dressed up or down with the right accessories I think define my wardrobe mostly at Brooklyn College. It does depend a lot on the given day though. The weather, specific events that go on during that day, mood, etc. could really affect the way I dress on a specific day.

  29. Diana’s Style impression • I would say that I try to dress in a way that gives off my personality. Fun, yet still conservative and appropriate for a school atmosphere. I am a very neat and structured person so I try to have everything I wear match and coordinate with proper colors & textures.

  30. Diana’s answer to Is there a Brooklyn College Style? • I think there is a uniform sense of style at Brooklyn College. A mirroring theme of dressed down, relaxed, and casual elements are seen throughout student style all around campus. • I think a collegiate theme is also present where the Brooklyn College Logo is worn a lot around campus.

  31. Diana’s alignment with Brooklyn College Style • Yes, I do believe that my sense of style at Brooklyn College somewhat aligns with the BC style I had mentioned before. • I share the relaxed and comfortable elements that are demonstrated throughout campus. • This includes denim wear, sportswear, loose knits, etc.

  32. Kenia’s Style choices • “I try to wear comfortable clothes when I'm in school. In general, I can say I like to wear things that cover me up good, I don't like showing any cleavage. I usually wear a t-shirt and comfortable jeans.”

  33. Kenia’s Style Choices cont. • “I'm wearing a t-shirt, jeans, sweater, another thick sweater/jacket. scarf, and flats.” • “I decided to wear this because I usually go for a casual, comfortable look when I'm going to school. I didn't wear a coat because it was not so cold out.” • “It's not something I love wearing but because I’m always rushing to go to school and I always want to be comfortable, I decided to go with this look. I guess I want people to see me as a humble, down-to-earth person.”

  34. Kenia’s Answer to is there a Brooklyn College Style • “Everyone goes for a casual look. Tees and jeans all the time, that's all I see. I always see people go for casual looks, like sweat pants and the school’s pull over sweaters.” • “Yes I do. I feel most of us dress alike. Just plain tees, jeans and a sweater.”

  35. Samara’s Style Choices • “My style, I guess, is tom-boy chic” • “I’m wearing a white basic tee from H&M, red and denim plaid button down long sleeve shirt from H&M, dark denim jeans from H&M, olive winter jacket from Forever 21 and black combat boots from Mossimo Supply Inc”

  36. Samara’s Style Choices cont. • Q: Why did you choose to wear what you wore today?A: “Well it was a bit chilly so I needed a long sleeve but preferably one that I can open up and my combats are super comfortable especially on long days. The weather influenced my outfit a good bunch” • Q: What kind of impression do you want to make with your clothing choice? A: “Girl On The Go, most definitely.”

  37. Samara’s Answer to is there a Brooklyn College Style • Q: Is there a certain look/style on campus? How would you describe it? A: “Very preppy chic.” • Q: Do you have a similar style to the Brooklyn College style? A: “Id like to say no, I'd like to think I have my own style.”

  38. How were choices made? • Pauline, my 22 year old Parisian friend, adopts a very classic style where the black color is very present because it represents her sobriety and elegance. She is inspired by several classic French brands as Sandro, Princesse tam tam, NafNaf, Promod, ETAM, Maje.

  39. How were choices made?Cont. • However, she is now living in NYC for 6 months and likes to diversify her style by adding some craziness to her style by shopping in Urban outfitters, buying Timberland or UGG, which for her represents a part of the American style and sportswear culture. • She enjoyed the fact that here in NYC you can be dressed how ever you like without being judge so here she doesn't’ care going to the supermarket in gym outfit whereas in Paris the sport style is not well seen.

  40. What kind of impression does the student want to make? • She wants to be seen as a cool person, very classy who fit in with the crowed during the week • During the weekend, she likes to have a neater style, and glamorous and sensual • Because, it is true that in Paris Young women are not so extravagant in the style as in London for example • To be accepted in a social environment in Paris you better look like everyone else than try to differentiate your style.

  41. Does he or she believe there is a certain look on campus?  • However, she thinks that there is a common student American style still with jeans, sneakers, and hoodies and represent by typical American brands as Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle, and Nike for example. • She doesn’t think that there is a certain look on the campus, as it is a multicultural campus, she thinks that each communities has its own style.

  42. Does he or she have a similar style? • Because as we can understand Pauline wants to fit in with the crowd so she adds some American style to her French one. • As she said in the previous answers, she is still very classic but try to adapt herself to the BC style and NYC style.

  43. Brooklyn College Style Samantha Aini Aliza Hamoy

  44. Casual, Yet Chic • Jeans, booties, a button down, a scarf, topped off with a black puffer jacket. • We live In Brooklyn. It’s cold. So we have to dress warm, hence the puffer jacket, scarves, and booties. (I wouldn’t say no to gloves either.) • Jeans are great for casual comfort. Comfort is a necessity when you’re sitting at a desk all day. • To make the outfit somewhat chic, most people wear button downs, cardigans, or sweaters. Its always a plus to try and look cute as you strut around the campus. • This is the look most girls attending this college would wear. Because it affords comfort, while still being presentable and stylish.
