GOLD CARDS • Two sales events – • First one starts today, 1/9 • YOU may PURCHASE as many as you would like tonight for $25 each and $12 of each card will go towards the cost of your trip. • Second one is Gold Card Blitz on 4/5/14 • Further details coming • Hold this date • THE ACT TEST IS NOT ON THIS DAY

  4. FUNDRAISING • Gold Card Sales Starting Tonight • Gold Card Blitz will be 4/5/14 – Please hold this date • Spring Salt Sale will be in April • MYAS Basketball Tournament at PLHS on 3/8/14 • funds earned at this event will go to the baseball program.

  5. SPRING TRIP PAYMENT PLANS • Total cost of the trip is $991 per player • Breakdown was sent to parents/players by Coach Nesbitt on 11/22/2013 • Players balance needs to be $691 by Thurs Jan 30th. This does include the amounts they have already raised. • $350 due on Thurs, Feb 13th • $341 due on Thurs, Feb 27th if there is a balance. • Make all checks out to: PL Baseball

  6. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES • Requesting each Family volunteers 3-4 hours during the year. • Opportunities are: • Concessions at Varsity/JV home games • Basketball tournament • Gold Card Drivers • Senior night coordinators (JR parents) • Pre-season/End of Year Banquet coordinators

  7. BANQUETS • First Pitch Banquet – Thurs, April 3rd, 2014 • End of Season Banquet – Thurs, May 22nd , 2014

PRE-SEASON/CAPTAINS PRACTICE • Purpose: An opportunity to get the players into Baseball shape, get swings, and build arm strength • Starting Monday, Jan 27th through Thurs, Mar 6th • Mon-Thurs from 3:30 to 5 pm • Mon is at Savage Sports Dome • Tues, Wed, & Thurs is at the Burnsville Pitch 2 Pitch Site • Cost is $150 (2 instructors Tues-Thurs) • To register please go Prior Lake high school Baseball website.

  9. TRYOUTS FRESHMEN • Mon, Mar 10th – Fr, Mar 14th • Hidden Oaks MS Gymnasium • 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM • Activities Bus will be arranged to transport Freshmen from PLHS to HOMS SO-JR-SR • Mon, Mar 17th – Fri, Mar 21st • Twin Oaks MS Gymnasium • 5 PM? – 8 PM or • 7 PM? – 10 PM • JR & SR class will tryout together • Sophomores class will tryout together ALL Players must register online through the PLHS athletic office and have an up-to-date physical to participate in tryouts

TRYOUTS 5 components for evaluation • Individual athleticism evaluation • Physical conditioning evaluation • Offensive skill/capabilities evaluation • Defensive skill/capabilities evaluation • Intangibles evaluation (coachable, attitude, work ethic, versatility, team need) • Players are expected to be at all tryout days • Tryouts will be PROCESS oriented, not RESULT oriented • Players are responsible for bringing their own equipment (glove, bat) to tryouts. • Every player will meet individually with coaches on Player Selection/Release Day (Fri)

  11. SPRING TRIP • Sun, March 23rd through Fri, Mar 28th • Entire Varsity, Junior Varsity, and possibly some additional Sophomore players will be going. • 30-32 Players along with 6 Coaches • Flight leaves for Phoenix on Sun March 23rd at 7 AM • Will be meeting as a team at Twin Oaks MS and leaving by bus for airport at 4:15 AM. • Will be leaving Phoenix on Fri, March 28th at 5:45 PM (MT), arriving in MN at 11 PM

Spring TRIP • Will be practicing 2 times a day (Mon-Thurs) at Apache Junction HS and Gene Autry Fields • We are allowed to bring 1 checked bag (equipment bag), 1 carry on (clothes), and 1 backpack (under seat) WHAT TO BRING -Baseball Equipment -Money for Meals -Practice attire -Hygiene Items -Swimsuit (Water Park) -Anything else your son will need

SPRING BREAK IN PL • Sophomore and Freshmen Teams will be practicing during Spring Break • WHEN: Mon, Mar 24th – Fri, Mar 28th • WHERE: Hidden Oaks MS Gymnasium & 1 day at Savage Sports Dome) • TIME: 3 PM – 5 PM • A missed Spring Break practice will result in a playing time consequence for SR, JR, & SOPH • 1 missed practice results in ½ a game missed • 5 missed Spring Break practices results in 2 ½ missed games

PLAYER HANDBOOK • Will be emailed to you after this meeting • Topics covered: • Team Breakdowns • Communication Chain/Contacting Coaches • Tryouts • Spring Break • In Season Practice Schedule • Away game transportation • Lettering Policy • Player/Parent Expectations • ISD 719 Chemical use policy • Academic/Attendance requirements • Players need to turn in Player/Parent Agreement to PLHS athletic office before tryouts begin

  15. PRE TRYOUT PLAYER MEETING Monday, March 3rd 3:30 PM Lecture Hall at PLHS MANDITORY MEETING for ALL PLAYERS Topics Discussed: Tryout Procedures Tryout Schedule Equipment needs for Tryouts

SUMMER BASEBALL • American Legion Baseball (19-15 yr old), • Junior Legion Baseball (16 yr old) • Senior Babe** (18-16 yr old) • Registration Form will be emailed to you • Registration Deposit of $150 • Returned if player does not make a team • Player cost $450 (includes deposit) • Each team will play 25-30 regular season games including 3 weekend tournaments
