Review all ONS documents and previous Congress evaluations in order to discuss topic ideas for education platform • Strategic plan • Research agenda • Legislative issues • Environmental scan • Needs assessments • Hot issues and trends • Concerns and ideas of members/SIGs • Councils and committees

  5. Types of Sessions • Special sessions - topics vary by year • Bench to Bedside • Nominated lectureships • Mara, etc. • Joint sessions with other organizations • International sessions • Invited speakers

  6. Poster Sessions • Call for abstracts is near the end of the year • Research, clinical practice, education and leadership abstracts are selected • Poster sessions –two during meeting

  7. Topic Selection • Team reviews all submissions • Topics that are well developed and best fit the platform and educational needs of the members and attendees are selected for presentation • Using the ONS strategic plan, etc. • Variety of topics including clinical, leadership, research and administration

  8. Team Responsibilities • Inviting special speakers • Topic selection → coordinator notification • Liaison with session coordinator • Discuss coordinator responsibilities • Updating coordinators with reminders

  9. Team Responsibilities • Assist and mentor coordinators with speaker selection, slide preparation, content and speaker development • Attend meetings and participate in conference calls • Review of syllabus slides • Attend and audit congress sessions, provide support and assistance to coordinators and others when needed during sessions

  11. Coordinator Responsibilities • Meeting deadlines for speaker upload system • Mentoring speakers • Assisting speakers with slide development • Submitting slide sets on time and in appropriate format • Using the online resources available on the speaker upload system

  13. Congress Needs You! • Ideas • Topics, special moments • Mentorship • Find a 1st-time attendee • Creativity • Encourage others to attend • Enthusiasm • Use your social networks to help create anticipation
