  1. The Island of Chahj

  2. Factors Contributing to Climate • 38° North, 32° East • None • Tall, Extinct volcano (Mount Grailyteece)

  4. Chahj’s Climate Located at 38N and 32E island (Chahj) is located between Italy and Greece in the Mediterranean Sea. It is in the area known as the Ionian Sea, and so the climate is hot, dry, and humid. Chahj is not affected by any currents because the Mediterranean sea is an inland sea. Chahj never experiences much rain. Chahj does, however, receive snow (once in a blue moon). The average rainfall is 66 centimeters of rain every year. That is a very small amount. Chahj’s average temperature is 17 degrees Celsius. Summers are generally blazing hot, and winters are generally mild. Chahj has a huge extinct volcano that towers over everything. Mount Grailyteece (the volcano) is really tall because all the mountains in the surrounding region are tall, so why should Mount Grailyteece be any different? It makes temperatures on the other side of it cooler/hotter because hot air (or cold air) that hits it rebounds off the side, so half of Chahj is always hotter than the other half.

  5. Climate Description – 150-200 words • Iceland is an island in the stormiest region of the North Atlantic between Norway and Greenland. The Arctic Circle just touches the north coast of Iceland. Two features control its weather and climate: it is located relatively close to the Arctic circle; it also lies in the path of the current of warm oceanic water called the Gulf Stream. As a result the weather is changeable throughout the year, but sea-level temperatures are surprisingly warm during the winter. Much of the winter precipitation is snow, and autumn and winter are the wettest seasons. Average daily maximum temperatures range from 2 °C in winter to 14 °C in summer. Inland, Iceland is mountainous with several volcanic peaks rising above 5,000 feet. These higher areas are covered with snow all year round and there are extensive ice fields at higher levels. Although Iceland is very cold, Arctic air occasionally affects Iceland in spring and winter and drifting ice may block some north coast inlets, the main port and capital (Reykjavik) is ice-free all year. Summers are generally cool and cloudy with brief spells of fine pleasant weather. (186 words) • Source: Met Office: Island Past • URL: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/europe/iceland_past.html

  7. Climate Concerns Although Mount Grailyteece is an extinct volcano, it still spews environmentally harmful chemicals from its many side vents.

  8. Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Livestock Chahj’s basic agriculture revolves around producing wheat, corn, barley, sugar beets, olives, tomatoes, wine, tobacco, potatoes, soybeans, fish, grain, beef, fruits, vegetables, grapes, potatoes, and dairy products. Chahj imports machinery, transport equipment, fuels, and chemicals. Chahj exports food and beverages, manufactured goods, petroleum products, chemicals, and textiles. Around 26.33% of the land in Chahj is arable, and since the total population of Chahj is about 200 people, there isn’t much worrying to do about food, water and other things like that. http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0107588.html and http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/agr_ara_lan_of_lan_are-agriculture-arable-land-of-area
