  1. It is time again for the Doodle 4 Google art contest. When Google asks young artist to create a new Google Logo Design based on the theme they set forth. This year’s theme is “My best day ever...” What is a Logo? Well, basically, it is a word or a picture that represents a company or group. Some examples are;

  2. Sometimes the Google logo is decorated for a holiday or special event. Check out this link below to see how the Google logo sometimes changes. Just click on the logo

  3. Let’s look at the Doodle 4 Google homepage on the internet to find out about this year’s theme and prizes. One important change from last year is that we can enter as many entries(one per student) as we want instead of just 15 for the whole school. Each entry must have an entry form and a parent consent form in order to be entered. All of those forms and templates can be download from the info for participants link on the Doodle 4 Google home page. Just click on the logo below to see the home page.

  4. Google has artists who create the designs for the logo on special days. They use special computers and tools to make their doodles. Here is a video of one of their artists creating a Google doodle. Just Click on the picture of the artist below to see the video.

  5. The prize for winning is your logo used as the Google logo for one day during the year. You also get a $15,000 scholarship to college. Each runner up from every state will be visited by a representative from Google for a special assembly honoring you before the final competition in New York City. If yours is one of the finalists, you will be invited to attend the awards ceremony in New York City in May where you will be treated to all sorts of special activities at the Google headquarters. Your design will be hung in an exhibit at the Whitney Museum of Modern Art and you will attend the opening of that show. I would love for one of you to be the winner!

  6. I think that about covers it all. The artwork is due on February 5th or sooner. If you want to make sure yours gets sent into the competition, have your parents print and fill out the entry and consent forms that I have links to on the Art News webpage. Just go to Satilla’s homepage, find Mrs. Daughtry’s page and the Art News link to download those forms and extra templates. I am only supplying one template page per student. Good Luck!!
