  3. Challenge Geography On-Line Textbook: Go to http://my.hrw.com/ Units of Study: Handbook Unit North America South America Europe Africa Asia Current Events Grades: Students grades will be based on total points earned from in-class assignments, homework, projects, quizzes, and tests.

  4. Challenge Reading Storytown: Anthology comprised of various genres of literature. Each week the students will be reading a selection and completing various activities to support the skills and strategies introduced throughout the themes. Literacy Circles: The students will chose a piece of literature from the class challenge library to read and meet with their peers on a weekly basis. Each week the students will choose a literacy task to prepare and share with their group. A culminating independent activity will accompany each piece of literature. Grades: Students grades will be based on the following categories: Comprehension 25% Homework 10% IRP 10% (beginning 2nd MP) Skills 25% Projects 10% Vocabulary 20%

  5. Homework • Reading • Word Wisdom approximately 2 weeks to complete unit review • Finishing up classwork • IRP • Prep work for projects • Geography • Skills-based • Prep work for projects

  6. Projects • Combination of independent and group • Majority will be completed in school • Some prep work may need to completed at home • Project is due and all requirements have not been completed in school

Grades • Grades will be updated approximately every 10 school days • Students are informed of their grades when updates occur • Bonus Points • Students will have opportunities to earn bonus points via test questions or an additional activity to be completed with a project • Bonus points earned will directly correspond with the test or project

  8. METS ConnECT What is METS ConnECT? • METS ConnECT is a student-centered, mobile device initiative • This 21st century learning experience integrates a set of iPads • The data gathered from this initiative will drive future decisions regarding technology tools that enhance student learning
