  3. Stanza • Stanza- a group of lines arranged together A word is dead When it is said, Some say. I say it just Begin to live That day

  4. Rhythm • Rhythm- the beat created by the sounds of the words in a poem. One, two,Buckle my shoe;Three, four,Shut the door.

  5. Meter • A pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables. • Example: • FORCEfully, aBOUT, va.NIL.la • Does Mary like history?  /  Does Mary like his story?

  6. More about Meters: • Foot- unit of meter • The line has two feet (the WAY a CROW) • The line has three feet (NA-tures first GREEN is GOLD) • The line has four feet (whose WOODS these ARE i THINK i KNOW)

  7. Rhyme • Rhyme- a pattern of words that contain similar sounds • Cat/Bat • Yellow/Fellow • Which words rhyme? • Roses are red.Violets are blue.Please don’t kiss me,‘cuz I have the flu.
