  10. Structure of anessay • Introduction– background, whyisthisaninterestingtopic? Whatisthequestionyouwanttoanswer? • Argument– developtheeconomictheory. Use real life data orexamplestosupportyourargument • Discussion– Summarisethemainpoints. Statethelimitations of yourwork. Sayifthere are any “counter- arguments” – theoryor data thatopposeyourargument. • References– Use a recognisedacademicstyle (NOT just a hyperlinkto a website)

Grade scheme– essay (Max: 21 points) • Theessayisorganizedaccordingto a logicalstructure • A consistent and tidyformatisused (typeface and alignment of text, correctpunctuation and spelling, correct use of references, use of charts and tablestopresentinformation) • Theargumentisclearlydeveloped, usingeconomictheorywhereappropriate • Real-lifeexamples and data are interesting, carefullychosen and appliedtosupportthearguments • Counter-arguments are discussed in theessay • Theworkishanded in on time and complieswiththewordlimit • The use of English doesnothaveto be perfectbutitmust be understandable
