  13. Planned changes VLAD charts • Variable Life Adjusted Display • Highlights upward or downward outcome trends at early stage • Every patient is plotted from left to right on a chart with the line moving up for patients that survive and down for patients that die • The magnitude of the change is determined by the probability of survival (Ps) for each patient

  14. Clinical Report Appendix • List of all included cases is available from TARN • Excel format: Filtering • Submission link available when logged into website.

  15. Reports Overview • Clinical reports three times a year • Ad-hoc analysis available on request at any time

  17. Key messages – Injuries in children • 10% of all children injured are Non accidental injury under 2 years old • Road Traffic Incidents remain most common MOI - ½ children are pedestrians

  18. Key messages – Injuries in children • Over 50% children still being treated at Trauma Units • TBI remains leading cause of death followed by drowning and asphyxia

  19. Key Points – injuries in older people • Falls < 2 meters commonest MOI in those 60yrs + in contrast to RTA in younger patients • Head Injury greatest cause of death in older people

  20. Key Points – injuries in older people • Pre-hospital triage: difficulties in identifying major trauma in older adults. • Lack of early identification means that initial treatment is more likely to be in a TU & undertaken by a more junior doctor

  21. Reports Overview • Clinical reports three times a year • Dashboards quarterly/half yearly (cMTC) • Performance comparisons refreshed three times a year • Ad-hoc analysis available on request at any time • National reports for Children and Older people: Every 2 years
