  1. Ways to Protect Your Intellectual Property Intellectual property is very valuable. It is the result of our hard work and dedication. Only after giving a lot of effort and time, we come up with a new idea. So, everyone deserves to have a legal right to their intellectual property. Before discussing how to protect intellectual property, we must understand what intellectual properties are. IP is anything that has been created by anyone uniquely. Copying, recreating, remodeling, cannot be called unique creations. It has to be completely new, original, uninfluenced, and creative. An idea, a formula, a strategy, an art, a song, writing, everything can be Intellectual Property. You have legal rights over your IP when you register it. Only by registering it, you can protect it. Now, with the advancement in technology, stealing others' IPs has become very easy. So, if you are willing to establish your rights over your property, you must take the necessary steps. How Can We Protect Our Ip? There are mainly three ways to protect your IP. All these methods apply to different types of IP. These will provide you complete protection on your IP and you can take legal steps if someone is misusing it. Copyrights This applies to all the written and artworks. Poems, songs, drawings, sculptures, videos, novels, everything falls under this category. When you get the copyright of your IP, none can use it without your permission. This act will protect your property and you can take legal steps if someone is using it without your knowledge. This right usually stays after 70 years of your lifetime. It can also be extended. So, use copyright whenever your work is done. You can use copyright notice or register it legally. Registering your work will provide you more protection. Trademarks Trademarks will be an identification mark of your product. It can be a logo, a word, or a picture. You must use the trademark on all your goods openly and regularly. Only then, you can prove it to be your own. Thus, no one else will be able to use that mark. It should be renewed every 10 years. Patents Patents are used by different industries to protect their invention. So, you can get the right over your invention by having its patent. This has a validity of 20 years. So these are all the ways by which you can protect your IP. You can also hire an IP lawyer and get their help to assure your rights over your property.
