  3. Solving Exponential Equations 5x = 7 Take the LOG of both sides log 5x = log 7 Use LOG properties x log 5 = log 7 Solve for x x = 1.2091 Example 1 Solve 35x – 2 = 27

  4. Solving LOG Equations log(x – 1) + log(x + 1) = 1 Condense to a single LOG log((x – 1)(x + 1)) = 1 Convert to exponential 101 = (x – 1)(x + 1) Solve for x 10 = x2 – 1 11 = x2 is the only answer as the x-values are positive
