Gear Activity. Gear Ratio. Gear ratio is the speed of a gear multiplied by the number of cogs, or teeth, in that gear as compared to the speed and number of cogs of a second gear driven by the first one Gear Speed 1 (GS1) x Cogs Gear 1 (CG1) = Gear Speed 2 (GS2) x Cogs Gear 2 (CG2).
