  4. 4) Memory Storage and Learning Theory DRAW IT!!!! • Brain is constantly storing memories • Dream state is where they are stored temporarily • After dreaming, memories move to long term memory • Many studies show that people remember better if they dream after learning 5

  5. DRAW IT!!!! 5) Garbage Removal Theory • Our minds get rid of useless thoughts • Gets rid of things we need to forget • Eliminates the overload of everyday life 5

  6. 6) Threat Simulation Theory DRAW IT!!!! • Main reason for dreaming is to rehearse threatening situations • Enables us to better deal with them when awake 5

DRAW IT!!!! 7) Problem-Solving Theory • Dreaming brain makes connections more quickly • Studies show that “sleeping on problems” enabled problem-solving to occur more in those who dreamt than in those who did not 5 Elias Howe said that his invention of the sewing machine came from a dream, where he was captured by savages who use spears with holes in their tips.
