South West Observatory • Objectives: • Promote the best use of good evidence in policy and decision making in and about the region. • Enable a shared understanding of the region and its parts • Maintain and develop a well functioning intelligence network across the region that enhances the work of all its members.

South West Observatory Network Projects Regional State of the Environmentreport: • 17 organisations involved • Focussed round SW Regional Environment Network environmental priorities Culture/Tourism Project: • Identified gaps in knowledge. Actions to help ‘plug’ the gaps: • ONS Regional presence generated comparable indicative subregional counts for seven subdomains of culture. • Mosaic/tourism work in N. Somerset. Details circulated around network for comment. • Existing research for the sector summarised and circulated by Culture Module • Data available from SW Tourism summarised by SW Tourism. • Network to add to this where they know of additional work.
