  11. Computer Settings for NIS NVISION Setting For Internet Explorer 7.0 The following are considerations with NVISION when using IE7.Do It mode requires the following security setting be enabled:  "Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints".  Go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites -> Custom Level -> Miscellaneous.  You may need to restart IE after changing setting. In IE6, this is enabled by default in the Intranet Zone and Trusted Sites Zone.In IE7, this is enabled by default in the Intranet Zone only.  IE7 sets the Trusted Sites Zone default security level to "Medium" (IE6 defaulted to "Low").  You can lower security level to a maximum of "Medium-low" OR set the setting above to "Enabled".With IE7, the gateway page will refresh into the Player TOC.  The Player TOC will be in a window that includes the browser adornments.  The size of the window will depend on the size of the IE7 window the last time IE was closed.

  12. Computer Settings for NIS Supported Operating Systems & Browsers Below are the operating systems and corresponding browsers which are officially supported by Oracle for the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.10 - Tools Release 8.97. Windows XP Home Edition & Windows Vista Home Editions are not officially supported by Oracle. This is because they cannot account for all of the variable setting combinations individuals may have on their home computers. Though these operating systems are not "officially" supported, it is our experience that they have worked with the most recent tools release. Windows 2000 is not supported by Oracle. Some users have been able to use Windows 2000, however others have had issues with it. We will assist where possible. Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.01 or higher is needed . Screen resolution should be 1024 x 768.

  13. Computer Settings for NIS Supported Operating Systems & Browsers • Firefox Notes: • The following are known limitations using Firefox 2.0: • Firefox cannot be used as a browser for SameTime and QuickPlace. • OLE and RTF media objects cannot be viewed as embedded objects. • Import and export with Microsoft Excel and Word is not supported. • Other behavioral differences have been observed using Firefox.

  14. Computer Settings for NIS Internet Explorer 7.0 Settings • Below are the settings needed for NIS to work properly with Internet Explorer 7.0 or higher. You may or may not be able to change these settings on your own, depending on your department's policies. • Before making any changes on your work computer be sure to check first with your local IT staff. • The settings you will need for Internet Explorer 7.0 are as follows: • Allow all cookies from ne.gov • Allow all pop ups from *.nis.ne.gov • Enable File Download • Enable automatic prompting for downloads • Java permissions should be set to medium or lower • Check for newer versions of stored pages • Either the Java 2 JDK or the Microsoft Java JDK must be running • Enable "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections” • Enable "Use SSL 2.0” • Note: Internet Explorer 6.0 is packaged with Windows XP Professional. Users must apply SP1. • For detailed instructions for these settings go to: • http://www.das.state.ne.us/nis/tech_help/tech_info_help/Internet_Expl7_Settings.pdf • (Settings can also be found at nis.ne.gov)

  15. Computer Settings for NIS PC Recommendations Note: The suggested solution is only a guideline and not a requirement. Issue Response time of a “Find” operation is far slower on the html client than on the win32 fat client. Suggested Solution Response time is proportional to: • Level of Processor – Pentium 4 has a significant impact compared to Pentium 3 or lower • Processor Speed Pentium 4 has hyper threading capability which makes a single-CPU machine operate as a 2-CPU machine. Response Time Benchmark: (customer fetching 200 rows, clearly showing the impact of processor speed) Though there is an impact of moving to Pentium 4 with its hyper threading capability, Pentium 4 is not required for NIS to work on the web client. Memory made little difference in this case.

  16. NIS Sign On Page Adam Aronow

  17. NIS Sign On Page The NIS Sign On Page is http://nis.ne.gov/. DO NOT use www in the address when navigating to the Sign On Page. If you use www you will get a “Webpage Cannot Be Displayed” message.

  21. Required Plugins Installing Browser Plugins Manually Log onto Windows as a user with administrator rights Click the yellow bar and select Install ActiveX Control

  22. Required Plugins • Installing Browser Plugins Automatically • Obtain the plugin .cab files from http://www.das.state.ne.us/nis/tech_help/tech_info_help/required_plugins.html • Extract the .ocx files from jdeexpimpU.cab and jdewebctlsU.cab. • Create a logon script with the following commands: • xcopy jdeexpimpU.ocx "%systemroot%\Downloaded Program Files\" /C /H /R /Y • xcopy jdewebctlsU.ocx "%systemroot%\Downloaded Program Files\" /C /H /R /Y • regsvr32 /s "%systemroot%\Downloaded Program Files\jdeexpimpU.ocx" • regsvr32 /s "%systemroot%\Downloaded Program Files\jdewebctlsU.ocx" • Under the Group Policy node Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer\Security Features\Add-On Management, enable Add-On List and add two entries: • {F9E542CE-C16A-47FA-B7A8-D88E5F1C5719}, Value: 1 • {DAC2A68C-7E35-4138-A73A-2005C423F049}, Value: 1

  26. Internet Explorer Error This error can have a number of causes. One issue that can cause this is a corrupt User Profile. If it is caused by a corrupt User Profile, the only solution, rebuild the User Profile.
