  16. http://www.sacred-heart.org/pharm.asp Sacred Heart Sacred Heart's Inpatient Pharmacy provides brand name and generic prescription drugs for our patients while they are being cared for in the hospital. The inpatient pharmacy uses a robot and cart system to fill prescriptions and drug orders from the various units in the hospital. The system, called AcuDose Rx, securely stores narcotics and other medications on the hospital's nursing units. It electronically monitors any transactions that take place, thereby reducing the possibility for medication errors. The AcuDose system checks each medicine against the patient's allergies and current medications to ensure no allergic reaction or drug interaction will occur. The order is then reviewed by the pharmacy staff and sent to the appropriate nursing floor to be placed in the AcuDose cabinet located there. This technology allows Sacred Heart to streamline distribution activities within the hospital. This, in turn, allows our pharmacists to be an essential part of the healthcare team. Sacred Heart's pharmacists are actively involved with patient care.
