Career & Academic Planning Program (CAPP) • What is CAPP? • Designed to help students succeed in school and move on to a rewarding career • At various credit hour intervals, students must complete required career and academic activities to sign a contract • Spring 2007 Pilot • New MC students with 12 credit hours or less • Fall 2007 Implementation • All new MC students

Career & Academic Planning Program (CAPP) • Why Develop CAPP? • MC main goal: Spark workforce development in KY by providing postsecondary education • Supplied UPS with a part-time workforce to meet expansion needs • Encourage MC students to remain in KY to pursue positions in desired career fields both within/outside UPS • Students not pursuing positions in desired career fields and underprepared for job searching • Student Development Team tasked with creating a model of services to prepare and motivate students to pursue and attain academic and career goals

CAPP Checklist 30-59 Hours Checklist □ Update Your Resume □ Review Educational Blueprint □ Choose a Major □ Declare Major □ Take on a Campus Leadership Position □ Arrange an Informational Interview □ Explore an Internship □ Meet with an ULtra Advisor (JCTC) □Complete On-line Career and Academic Survey* *This activity is required before signing your contract and moving to the next credit-hour block. Checklist includes suggested activities and required activity.

Student Transition Program (All New Students) • STP Modules: • Intro • Metro College 101 • Career Assessment • Financial Literacy • Time Management • Academic Support Services • Outro Series of online modules designed to: • Explain MC policies and procedures, • Provide tools and resources to be successful in college and work life, and • Assist in exploring career options.

Student Transition Program (All New Students) • 2-3 hours to complete or over a 2-week period • Activity and assessment with most modules • Developmental and interactive • Used for improvements • Convenience and consistency • Accessed at anytime • Material is the same for each student • More one-on-one time with students • STP technology information

Resume (13-29 credit hours) • Customized to specific career field • Upload to local online job portal • Demonstrate job search techniques • Discussion with counselor: • Next steps tailored to specific goals • Tips on how to enhance resume and candidacy • Survey to track effectiveness • Provides a foundation to build upon throughout college career

Career & Academic Survey (30-59 credit hours) Online survey that captures students’ progress with obtaining academic and career goals Data from this report is stored on a secured Intranet and will be used for generating reports and making positive interventions with students The C & A is composed of drop-down, fill-in-the-blank, and open response questions Accessed through MyMc Page Completed in 10-15 minutes

  18. Mock Interview (60-89 credit hours) Students schedule mock interviews on the MyMC page Students receive expectations when scheduling Interview takes 1 hour to complete

Graduation Plan Survey (110 + credit hours) Online survey to measure how MC services have impacted students’ career and academic development Provides MC with outcomes of the program to help meet the needs of current and future students Reports on post-graduation plans and activities (i.e. graduate school, job searching, etc) Access through MyMC Page 10 – 15 minutes to complete
