The Nebraska Wind Working Group is a state and federal partnership funded by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Wind Powering America program through National the Renewable Energy Laboratory to educate and update Nebraskans on wind energy markets, technologies, economics, policies, prospects and issues to help develop the state’s wind resources.

Nebraska Wind Working Group • Formation was announced December 7, 2007 at the Nebraska Farmers Union State Convention in Grand Island Press Conference • Three Co-Chairs: Two State Senators and Farm Organization Leader • State Senator Cap Dierks of Ewing • State Senator Don Preister of Omaha • Nebraska Farmers Union President John Hansen of Lincoln

NWWG Activities Summary • Develop professional exhibits, materials, & backdrops for outreach and educational activities • Gather names and contact information for NWWG contact list of over 2,000 Nebraskans • Five City Wind Working Group Kickoff Tour in February • Conduct wind transmission development and planning meetings • 55 wind information outreach meetings across Nebraska • Staff booths at 12 fairs, events, trade shows, & conventions • Provide information to landowners and citizens on wind issues • Develop informational handouts on wind energy • Press releases and press interviews on wind topics • Plan and organize 2008 Wind Conference
