Citizens may CHOOSE not to do these. * Freedom to express yourself. * Freedom to worship as you wish. * Right to a prompt, fair trial by jury. * Right to vote in elections for public officials. * Right to run for elected office. * Freedom to pursue “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” • Responsibilities- Things the citizens MUST do. • Respect and obey federal, state, and local laws. • Pay income and other taxes • Serve on a jury when called upon. • Defend the country if the need should arise.

Key Terms Economics 42 Political-has to do with government Economic- relating to or based on the making, selling, and using of goods and services Federal-another word for national or central government Governed- the people being ruled, the citizens Consent-approval Due Process- balances the power of law of the land and protects the individual person from it. Market : the potential buyers of a product Producer: The person who produces the goods Consumer: The person who buys the goods Supply: how much of a good that is available Demand: how much of a good that is wanted Scarcity: limited supply of a good Globalization: spreading of an idea or product Goods: products available for sale Service: the work or actions preformed for someone Production: how goods are made Tariff: a tax on foreign goods
