BURIAL FUND – NAMIBIA LEGISLATION • The Burial Fund is registered in SA only – not with Registrar of Friendly Societies in Namibia • Restriction – cross border insurance • Decision was made to re-insure the liability with an Insurance company in Namibia • Benefits of re-insurance – some value added benefits are included in premium

NEW STRUCTURE FROM 1 JULY 2018 • The NAC Burial Fund has re-insured the Namibian membership with Liberty Life Namibia. • NACBF together with Liberty Life and AVBOB have partnered in providing affordable funeral cover together with additional added benefits. • Members are not forced to use Avbob. Members will have an opportunity to choose an undertaker of their choice. Certain conditions may apply in this instance

NEW STRUCTURE FROM 1 JULY 2018 • The NAC Burial Fund will continue to collect an annual premium payable by June each year. • The premium will then be paid over to Liberty Life • At the time of death the family deals with Liberty/Avbob/other • With effect 1 July 2018 - NACBF will not pay any funeral cost directly to the undertakers • A death certificate, certified ID documents, bank accounts will be important documents for settling a claim in the future

PROCEDURE WHEN A DEATH OCCURS • Proposed Funeral Arrangements form must be completed by the Rector together with the family and presented to an AVBOB office. • At the AVBOB office a Liberty Life representative will assist with the completion of the Liberty Life claim form. • A cash benefit is payable to the member by Liberty Life and will be done once the claim form is submitted together with the death certificate. • Any additional cost over and above the cash benefit payable relating to the funeral or other additional benefits will be for the members account.

ELIGIBILITY • All members of the New Apostolic Church Namibia are eligible to join the NAC Burial Fund. • Benefits may be selected for a single adult member only or for a family. • A family will consist of the member, one spouse and a maximum of 6 children. A child would be a biological child, a step child or a legally adopted child. • No waiting periods will be applied

  9. ELIGIBILITY (continued) Minimum Entry Age: • Member – 18. • Spouse – 18. • Children – New born (on parents’ policy). • A stillborn child may be covered, following 28 weeks pregnancy (maximum 2 claims).

  10. ELIGIBILITY (continued) • Maximum Entry Age: • Member – None. • Spouse – None (if main member is still covered). • Children – 21. (NB: 21 years old must apply for a policy. No automatic policy will be issued to them)

  11. ELIGIBILITY (continued) Cease age: • No cover cease age is applicable. • The main member and family will be covered as long as premiums are paid. Spouse Funeral Continuation Option: • Benefit allows for cover to continue for the spouse and children on death of the main member as long as premiums are paid by the spouse.

ELIGIBILITY (continued) Main Member and Spouse Passing Away Simultaneously: • If the parents of children under 18 pass away simultaneously, the children will be issued a policy (at no cost) until they reach the age of 21 or get married, whichever occurs first. • If a child is adopted by a family, this child is automatically included in the family cover upon receipt of legal documentation. • Unmarried mentally or physically disabled children who are totally and completely dependent on the member will be covered for as long as the policy is in force.

  13. BENEFITS • Family package: (On death of a member or a dependent, a lump sum benefit based on the scale below will be paid to the beneficiary).

  14. BENEFITS (continued) • Immediate Expense Benefit: • The immediate expense benefit (N$7,000.00) is automatically included when the main insured passes away and a benefit is paid at the time to assist with the immediate expenses which arises at the time of death.

BENEFITS (continued) • Additional Services: • Repatriation (Lesotho, South Africa, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Mozambique) • Removal of deceased from funeral parlour premises • If AVBOB is used to provide the funeral service they are able to provide policyholders with use of their cold storage facilities in the mortuary for free for the first seven days after death. • Assistance in obtaining death certificates • Assistance for referral for autopsy and pathology reports • Counselling – Trauma and Legal Assistance • 24 hour client and claims assistance

  17. BURIAL AGENTS – ADMIN ISSUES • A Receipt Book control will be managed at the local office. This will be audited by NACBF from time to time. • Collection Lists are sent to the field annually during April month. This must be completed reflecting all payments and must be returned to the Admin office by a set cut-off date.

  18. BURIAL AGENTS – ADMIN ISSUES (continued) • Statements will be provided at congregation level. These must be issued to members as proof of membership status. • Each congregation will also receive a subscriber list which must be placed on the notice board. • Lapsed notices will be sent to members who did not pay their premium before 1 July. • Members must insist on proof of payment NB: A written receipt must be handed to the member.

  19. MEMBER INFORMATION • Members must inform Rector of a death that occurs in the family. • Members must complete the relevant documentation to ensure payment of claim. • Members must insist on proof of payment e.g. Receipt. • Members must pay annual premium by 30 June.
