  1. Importance of Computer Recycling

  2. The world of information technology keeps on advancing all the time. We come to know about new devices that are better than the previous or existing devices so in that case everyone wants to get rid of the old systems and shift to the latest systems with all the desired features. There are different ways of recycling the computers. Some of the most common methods are as follows:

  3. Take your computer to the closest recycling shop in your locality • Contact the retailer or manufacturer of your computer and ask them if they have something to offer against the old computer • Search for some charity organizations and donate your devices or computer

  4. Know the Components of your Computers Before you opt for any method, you must know about the elements contained in your computer. Some computers and especially laptops include fluorescent lamp in their screens. These lamps contain mercury. Some of them also contain lithium batteries.

  5. Moreover, your laptops and computers also contain lead in the picture tube or CRT. Some amount of mercury is also present in the circuits of the motherboard. All these elements are harmful to the environment so you should not opt for careless disposal of your computers. This is your social responsibility to keep your environment safe.

  6. Never Throw Your Computers in the Trash Computer recycling becomes a serious and sensitive issue because computers contain different materials such as plastic, copper, gold, and aluminum. Nobody shall suggest you to only throw these materials in the trash. Moreover, there are different laws for the disposal of electronics and computers. These laws vary from one state to the other. You must have proper knowledge about these laws in order to find the most suitable method of computer recycling.

  7. There are a number of retailers and computer manufacturing companies that accept your used computers. Again you must check for such retailers and contact them in order to find a possible solution. Anyways this option seems to be far better than the destruction of your computers.

  8. According to the statistics, there is 23% of plastic, 32% of ferrous metals, 18% or non-ferrous metals, 12% of electronic boards and 15% of glass. All these components are harmful to the environment if they are burnt are thrown without adopting any proper method. If the above percentages do not give you an adequate idea then please remember that each computer contains one to two kilogram of lead. This is quite alarming and you will never think of burning or throwing it away.

  9. Due to the implementation of law and changes in environmental legislation, electronic companies have introduced different recycling programs. In order to participate in the environment-friendly programs, computer manufacturers have also started programs for computer recycling.

  10. For instance, Dell has started a program according to which they take used computers and bear all the shipping prices and recycle the components to manufacture new machines. Computer recycling has become a worldwide phenomenon and were also the need of the hour. We live on this planet and we must contribute to protecting its environment.
