SharePoint Features • WSS Provides Sites • Allows for hierarchical navigation • Sites can have sub-sites • Sites provide physical storage • WSS provides the capability of defining “lists” • Lists include • Libraries • Contacts • Events • Tasks • Discussions • Lists can be used as web parts and placed into any web part page

Document Libraries • SharePoint provides a document repository mechanism called Document Libraries • Any type of document can be placed into document libraries • Document Libraries support • Security • Versioning • Check in/Check out • In-place editing • Approvals • If Windows XP or greater and Office 2003 is installed, document libraries can be mapped to a drive just like a Windows Share
