This update provides information on the new UCEDD and LEND directors, the recently elected AUCD Board of Directors, activities of the Board Councils, notable events at the conference, points of interest, AUCD finances, staff changes, publications and resources, and ongoing projects.

Overview of Activities of the Board Councils this Year • CIS-developed a definition on “interdisciplinary service” • COCA-developing a relationship with SABE • CORE-developed a policy regarding research requests for NIRS data access • MCC-completed a survey on the diversity of the network • NTDC-completed a survey of training directors to inform future work • NCEDC-extended its membership to dissemination coordinators

Conference Notables • 475 registered • 3 notable plenaries: • Ed Barlow, Futurist, on Monday’s opening plenary • Postsecondary Education on Tuesday morning • Major Disability Organizations on Tuesday afternoon • Federal Agency Round Table on Wednesday morning • The Training Symposium on technology for the future has gotten the most training symposium registrants ever > 120 • 85 posters (more than ever before!) • 5 virtual posters being presented to 5 sites (CO, HI, UT, NM, WA) • Trainee reception will feature announcement of new ESPA trainee grants • Awards breakfast on Wednesday morning: AUCD awards from network nominations, awards for 3 posters, and raffle prizes

Points of Interest Near Registration • We have a “wall of fame” showcasing major awards and national recognition that network members have received this year • The job board has many postings that may be of interest to your graduating and recent trainees – including CDC Fellow • Brookes Publishing is • Offering a discount on orders placed during the conference • Hosting a book signing by Mark Batshaw tonight during the reception

  16. Survey of the Network onAutism, Adult Services, MR/DD Agency Work • Conducted in August 2007 • 52 Centers responded: • 72% (48) of the UCEDDS • 71% (24) of the LENDs • 3 documents produced plus a research report

AUCD Project Update: MCHB • Leadership Evaluation Project • Measures finalized • Completed pilot test of validation • Beginning full validation process • Working on possible revisions to Performance Measures • Discipline workgroups continuing & growing in Family, Social Work, Occupational & Physical Therapy, Nursing • PPC and LEAH networks are fully utilizing NIRS • Begun final year of 3 Genetic Counseling grants
