  1. How to Thoroughly Clean Your Restaurant Grease Traps Cleaning out the grease traps in your industrial kitchen is an essential but unpleasant task. Although the procedure itself is very straightforward, getting rid of the fats, oils, and grease that can build up in the trap does involve some tools and manual labour. You need to grab some equipment before beginning in order to protect yourself and facilitate the task. This should include coveralls for protection, rubber gloves to protect your hands, a mask or nose plug to block odors, a wrench to lift the grease trap lid, a scraper, a steel pot scrubber, dish soap, and a shop vacuum.

  2. How to do Grease Trap Cleaning for Restaurants? Locate the grease trap in your restaurantonce you have everything you need. It may be inside or outside depending on how you have it set up. When a grease trap is inside, it is typically in the basement, under the kitchen sink, or under a metal flashing in the kitchen floor. When a grease trap is outside, it is typically identified by a manhole-like covering or septic tank design. Remember that certain grease traps are so big that it is advisable to leave the work to experts. If your grease trap holds 500–2500 gallons, you should probably hire a professional to do the work.

  3. While the system is using hot or warm water, you shouldn't try to clean the grease trap. It is simpler to remove fats, oils, and grease when the water is cool because they float to the surface. After a sink or dishwasher has released hot water, you should wait at least 10 minutes before you begin the procedure. To prevent the grease trap from overflowing while you are cleaning, ensure the dishwasher is off and that the sinks are not in use. Use the crowbar to unlock the grease trap. Be cautious when removing the cover so as not to harm the gasket that keeps the lid tightly sealed.

  4. Remove the greasy muck on top once you get the lid off. You'll be able to access any food waste and water that is still in the trap once this layer of fats, oils, and grease has been eliminated. After that, you can remove any remaining particulates and water with a strong shop vac.

  5. The following step entails using a scraper to remove any debris that has adhered to the lid, sides, and baffles of the trap. After scraping everything off, use the shop vac to vacuum away the dirt and any FOG that is still there. Now is the time to get the dish scrubber, soap, and warm water. Clean the baffles, sides, and lid completely. After fully cleaning the grease trap, thoroughly flush it with fresh water. The next step is to verify your work by running a gallon of fresh water through the sink. The water should be able to pass through the grease trap unhindered.
