B Record • First Year Teacher Flag • Identifies individuals that have less than one full year of teaching experience in ANY public or accredited non-public school. • Use Nfor a teacher transferring from an out-of-state public school to a VA public school. • Use Nfor a teacher that has transferred from one VA public school to another VA public school.

C Record • SCED Codes • School Course for the Exchange of Data • A course catalog available to all districts and schools in the nation. • Identifies the content of what is being taught. • Use VA Approved SCED List • Avoid using local elective codes • Contact Office of Humanities or the STEM Office at VDOE if there is a SCED code in the national list that should be added to the VA Approved SCED List

C Record con’t • SCED Sequence Code • This is a code that describes the manner in which school divisions may "break up" single courses into 2 or more sequentialcourses. • Reporting a single course in two or more parts • It should not be used for state-approved CTE courses that are eligible for state funding (SEDF). • Typically this is 1 of 1 • Example: A semester-long World Geography course that is taken in two semesters instead of one. The first course will have a SCED Sequence Code of “1 of 2”. The second course would have a SCED Sequence Code of “2 of 2”.

D Record • Teacher Role Code • 5 – Long Term Substitute • Someone that is temporarily filling a vacant position. • Not for someone who is out on for an extended period of time such as FMLA. • 6 – Contracted Private Provider • Someone without a VA Teacher License but teaches a course with very specific content • Example: Oceanographer teaching Marine Biology

F Record • Virtual Course Indicator • The Virtual Course Indicator identifies whether or not the course is taken virtually, including online courses or course taken via satellite between schools. • 1 – School sponsored/coordinated • School funded • 2 – Student coordinated • Funded by the student’s family

F Record • Work-based Learning Codes • 1 – Cooperative Education • 2 – Registered Apprenticeship • 3 – Internship • 4 – Mentorship • 5 – Job Shadowing • 6 – Service Learning • 7 – Clinical Experience • 8 – Supervised Agricultural Experience • 9 – Youth Registered Apprenticeship • 10 – Externship • 11 – School-Based Enterprise • 12 – Entrepreneurship

F Record cont. • Dual Enrollment • The Dual Enrollment Flag identifies the student who participated in a course as defined in the Governing Principles for Dual Enrollment between Virginia Public Schools and the Virginia Community College System. • Dual enrollment refers to college-level coursework taken by high school students wherein the course counts towards high school graduation and is designed to result in earned college credits.

F Record cont. • Governor’s Academy Codes • Governor’s Academies are defined by program content, not by the location or delivery of content.  Courses may be delivered in a high school, technical center or community college campus, online, or in other innovative ways.  These are full-day or part-day, academic-year programs.  The establishment of a Governor’s Academy must be approved by the Virginia Board of Education. • S – Governor’s STEM Academy Code – focuses on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) literacy • H – Governor’s Health Academy Code – focuses on health science literacy

F Record cont. • Credit Awarded Flag • Indicates student passed the classroom portion of the course and received high school credit for passing the course. • This does not apply to elementary and non-credit bearing middle school classes. • Additional Edits Added • Credit Awarded Flag inconsistent with Courses Reported • Warning - At least 75% of records for credit earning courses should have a Credit Awarded Flag = Y • Fatal - No records have been reported with a Credit Awarded Flag = Y • Fatal – No records have been reported with a Credit Awarded Flag = N

  14. New Data Elements C Record MOP ID The MOP ID is a code that identifies a course with curriculum and delivery that is provided by an approved Multi-division Online Provider. In order to be considered a MOP, the content must be created and taught by the approved MOP. Edits: If MOP ID is not null, then Virtual Course Indicator in the F Record is required New Edit for Virtual Course Indicator (F Record) Required if MOP ID is not null.

  16. New Data Elements C Record SCED Course Level Code that conveys the level of rigor of the course. Edits Must be a valid SCED Course Code Must be alpha Must be one character May be blank if course is an AP/IB Course

  17. SCED Course Level Code B = Basic or Remedial G = General or Regular E = Enriched or Advanced Use for elementary and middle school course H = Honors Use for high school level courses X = No Specific Level of Rigor
