  4. Different Purposes • Even though Saber and Conocer both mean “to know,” they are used for different purposes.

  6. Use Saber for... • Information • Example: I know there is a test today.

  7. Use Saber for... • How to do something (saber followed by an infinitve verb) • Example: I know how to drive.

  8. Use conocer for... • knowing someone or a pet • Examples: I know you. She knows Fido.

  9. Use conocer for... • knowing a place (as a proper noun) • Examples: I know Hamilton High School. • I know Memphis like the back of my hand.

  10. Use conocer for... • knowing a topic of interest • Examples: I know Mexican Literature. She knows Math really well.
