2. What are the different parts of a sentence? SUBJECT The subject is either a noun or a noun phrase. It can be a person or a thing that is being discussed or referred to in a sentence. Example: Edgar is walking down the road. *Edgar is the subject; it answers the question, “who is walking down the road?” PREDICATE The predicate is the verb that describes/ indicates the action of the subject.
