The Adventure BeginsJoshua 1:1-9 • Follow the Leader • God’s Commission (vs.1,2) • A Sovereign Time • A Sorrowful Time • A good attitude about sorrow • A good principle about sorrow (Phil. 3:12-14) “Back to the past and a face to the future” • A Strategic Time • Israel was ready! • Canaan was ready! • Jordan was ready!

  3. The Adventure BeginsJoshua 1:1-9 • God’s Promises (vs. 3-6) • Israel would enter the land (vs. 3,4) • God has given us “all spiritual blessings” Eph.1:3 • We can’t stand still! Hebrews 6:1,2 • Victory over the enemy (vs. 5) • Similar promises given in the past • God has given this promise to us today! Matthew 1:23 and 28:20; Romans 8:31 • Divided land as an inheritance (vs. 6)

The Adventure BeginsJoshua 1:1-9 • God’s Written Word (vs. 6-9) • Joshua was to know God’s Word • Joshua was to talk about God’s Word Deuteronomy 6:1-12; 1 Peter 3:15 • Joshua was to meditate on God’s Word • Meditate means “to mutter” or “talk to yourself” • Make it a part of you Deut. 17:18-20; Ps.1:2 • Joshua was to obey God’s Word
