  4. What is the main problem linked to excessive amounts of fat? • Death-1/2 the leading cause of death are diet related, most to fat intake • Heart Disease • Cancer • Obesity/Over weight “Over-Fat”

  5. How can we control our fat intake? • Become aware • Eat less, overall • Plan ahead • Cook without fat • Avoid Convenience foods • Choose restaurants that offer low fat selections

  6. Controlling Fat cont… • Read Nutrition Labels • Use the 3 dietary guidelines, Food Guide Pyramid • Positive attitude • Make small changes at first. Remember that every RIGHT choice is a success!

  8. Why do Americans continue to eat so much fat even though we know it isn’t good for us? • Environment- we are surrounded with high fat food choices • Emotional reasons such as boredom and stress • Fast-paced lifestyle leads to eating for convenience instead of nutrition
