History of Jan Kriel School 1925: Jan Kriel, at age 16, died from epilepsy • 1937: Jan’s parents, with the help of the church, started an institute to care for children with epilepsy Jan Kriel Rev Kriel Mrs Kriel 1944: From caring to educating: a formal school was begun 1985: The school also included learners with other special education needs

  5. …to bigger dreams… The Association of Friends of the Epileptic child was started in 1949, in order to raise funds and create awareness And with these funds big building projects were taken on and completed between 1950 - 1985

  6. At Jan Kriel School we strive to empower learners with epilepsy and special education needs

  7. ”Gee ‘n Kind ‘n Kans””Gee ‘n Kind ‘n Kans” Special education is about 4 times more expensive than mainstream education. Jan Kriel School is only partially subsidized. Friends’ financial support ensures the future of necessary support for our children and their unique needs. Please become a benefactor and help us to give a child a chance!
