  1. Welcome – one and all. In the next half hour-or-so I hope to show you exactly what we will all be doing, in the Dordogne, between July 25th and August 2nd. I hope you have all had time to look at the itinerary of activities – it is a blow-by-blow account of the week your child will be enjoying. CLUB CORREZEACTIVITIES HOLIDAY

BEHAVIOUR • As you are aware; this is an ‘Activities Holiday’ aimed at those individuals who have maintained a high level of motivation and commitment since beginning their career at CAN – we expect them to get involved. • We, as staff, do not anticipate many, if any, discipline problems throughout the week – the Academies sanctions procedure will be followed where required – each incidence will be dealt with individually. • The students are representing our School from the moment we depart CAN to the moment we return.

  4. Activities Water sports: These take place on the nearby lake of Séchemaillesabout ten minutes from the centre. It is an ideal site for the water sports activities: • Topper sailing • Windsurfing • Kayaking • Canadian canoeing CLUB CORREZE vehicles are at hand to safely transport groups to and from the lake.

  5. The adjacent forest is ideal for Orienteering and Rambo Ramble. The local area has a maze of small but safe tracks for Mountain Biking which can be enjoyed with tremendous views. LAND BASED ACTIVITIES- Mountain Biking - Archery - Rifle Shooting - Orienteering - Rambo Ramble - Abseiling - Gorge Walking

  6. Accommodation • Club Correze offers a safe and secure environment. Comfortable hostel style accommodation is provided for up to 190 people in five buildings with dining and indoor facilities. • Young guests sleep in bunk beds in small dormitories which hold between four and ten people with adjoining toilet and shower facilities. • Supervising adults stay in adjoining twin bedded rooms with their own facilities.

  7. Food – is plentiful…it needs to be • Food is plentiful and of high quality using fresh local ingredients. • Meals include buffets and barbecues as well as traditional three course meals. • There is also a bistro with TV and a tuck shop with video games.

  8. Safety • They understand at CLUB CORREZE the concerns parents may have when their children are away from home and that is why the safety and enjoyment of their young guests is their paramount concern. • Their instructors are fully national governing body qualified, or in absence of an appropriate award will have received comprehensive in-house training. Parties are divided into groups with the staff-to-pupil ratio strictly within governing body guidelines for each activity. [mention/remind of health issues of individuals - KR] • Health advice issued by the Department of Health: Although vaccinations are not compulsory for the South of France, immunisation against tetanus is strongly recommended. • Passports: We are travelling as a group – all of whom will need to have handed in their group passport application form as soon as possible (in Letter 2.) NO GROUP PASSPORT APPLICATION = NO TRAVEL ! • E.H.I.C. (formally E111) The QUICKEST and easiest way to apply for your European Health Insurance Card is online at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers OR telephone 0845 606 2030 – and one will arrive in the post!

Essential items to take • Spending money – in EUROS • A holdall/backpack • Sleeping bag • Pillow • Toiletries • SUN CREAM • Insect repellent • Any medication • Large sun hat • Sun glasses • Windproof jacket • Warm jumper/hoodie • Underwear x 15-20 • T-shirts – longsleeved • Shorts • Jogging bottoms • Trainers • Plastic bags x 5 • OLD trainers • A ‘day bag’ • Small torch • A bath towel • A beach towel • Pen & paper • MOBILE PHONE • Home contact details x 2 • Plasters • 1 litre re-usable water bottle • FOOD for the journey • Anything else I have forgotten: • Camera (+ charger/spare mem card) • Plug adaptor • £20 cash + €20 per day – including COINS Please note: items of high value are NOT covered by insurance.
