  1. The Church Of Our Choice?

  2. Christ is the Savior of the body. Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

  3. The body is the church. Colossians 1:18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. Ephesians 1:22-23 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

  4. It is the church built by Jesus. Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Acts 20:28 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.

  5. There is only ONE body. Ephesians 4:4-6 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

  6. There is only ONE body. Many members (people) but only 1 body (church). • 1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also isChrist. …27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

  7. There is only ONE body. Many churches (congregations), but only one body. • Romans 16:16 the churches of Christ • Galatians 1:2 the churches of Galatia • 1 Thessalonians 2:14 the churches of God which are in Judea in Christ Jesus • Revelation 2, 3 the seven churches of Asia

  8. There is ONE recognizable body. Ephesians 4:1-6 1 Corinthians 4:17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. 1 Corinthians 11:2 Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you.

  9. There is ONE recognizable body. 2 John 9-11 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; 11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds. Jude 1:3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. Cf. Titus 1:7-9

  10. God adds us to the one church or body of Christ. Acts 2:30-47 Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

  11. There were no denominations in the New Testament. • No hyphenated Christians • Rome, 312 A.D. – Catholic Church • Amsterdam, 1609 A.D. – Baptist Church • Geneva, 1541 A.D. – Presbyterian Church • England, 1534 A.D. – Church of England (Episcopal) • Great Britain, 1729 A.D. - Methodists

  12. Denominationalism Is Sinful. 1 Corinthians 1:10-13, 3:1-4 Romans 8:6-7 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.

  13. Denominationalism Is Sinful. John 17:20-21 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.

  14. Become a Christian today. Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

  15. Obey the gospel! Believe – John 8:24 Repent – Luke 13:3 Confess – Romans 10:10 Be Baptized – Mark 16:16 Be Faithful – Revelation 2:10
