  2. ANOTHER IMPORTANT OBJECTIVE… To introduce several ideas and at least one tool that may minimize the possibility of (unwanted consequences) and increase the probability of (desirable result)

  3. WHY FOCUS ON THIS? To help you to reduce/minimize the tendency to become complacent, overwhelmed, stagnant, burned-out and/or discouraged.

  4. WHY FOCUS ON THIS? To expose you to a model that can be used to identify information from within or jog your memory, the results of which can help to rejuvenate and invigorate your career/life

  5. DO YOU EVER FIND YOURSELF ACTING LIKE…..

  6. HOW DO WE KNOW WHEN THERE IS A NEED FOR….”BECOMING”

  7. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • Do what I say and not what I do

  8. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • “I don’t know why people don’t like me!”

  9. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • “I just don’t seem to have the passion I had years ago ”

  10. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • Continually talks about how good it used to be back then compared to now

  11. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • It just seems/feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel

  12. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • “The administration/management is always making request within short deadlines and I can’t ever seem to catch up?”

  13. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • “ To tell you the truth, I’m just waiting until I can retire…but these times are pushing this goal further and further down the road…It’s so discouraging!”

  14. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • It’s becoming increasingly difficult for me to come to work….Students or clients seem to be bored!

  15. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • Everything seems to be so redundant, old, etc…. I don’t seem to be making a difference!

  16. THERE MAY BE A NEED IF…. • “It seems as though I don’t even exist….I do all the work but, guess who gets the credit?”

  17. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • Clients come to you less and less….

  18. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • Fewer students take your classes….

  19. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • Self-esteem issues may surface….

  20. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • You start thinking about quitting or retirement, a lot!

  21. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • You become increasingly critical and unpleasant to be around

  22. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • Your clients/students increasingly experience unmet needs

  23. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • Some slip into unprofessional behavior

  24. POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES? • You get fired!

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVELY RESPONDING TO…6 of 8 * Change – (Desire for and actually doing/experiencing something different than what was done/experienced before) * Develop or revisit hobbies * Take vacation(s) * Begin or start again or increase periods of healthy eating and/or recreation and/or rest *Re-organized your home * Spiritual life initiation or renewal *Further your education *Avoid becoming isolated (become intentional-support groups, mtgs., teams, associations, etc.)

TIPS FOR EFFECTIVELY RESPONDING TO…7 of 8 * Initiate or increase sharing involvements (charitable agencies, church, conferences, work setting, etc.) * Start a business *Reading or writing(although not about just anything) * Engage in more activities that bring laughter * Retire (or, more appropriately “make a, transition” or career change up or over or out of….4-Step, etc. *Consistently let others see the passion, excitement and joy you have because of what you are doing by what you say and do
