    6. Physical Education Standards STANDARD 1: Students demonstrate the motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities. STANDARD 2: Students demonstrate knowledge of movement concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activities. STANDARD 4: Students demonstrate knowledge of physical fitness concepts, principles, and strategies to improve health and performance. Standard 5: Students demonstrate and utilize knowledge of psychological and soociological concepts, principles, and strategies that apply to the learning and performance of physical activity.

    7. Unit Objectives Students will participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity challenges that require agility, balance, coordination, power, speed, and muscle strength/endurance. Students will be able to identify and explain the physical fitness components required in each of the activity challenges. Students will practice self control and appropriate risk taking while maintaining a safe activity environment.

    10. Daily Gladiator Challenges 5 Points Practices Gladiator activity more than 10 times Maintains Safe & Appropriate behavior. Is a group leader and helps keep station group on task. 3 Points Practices Gladiator activity 5-7 Maintains Safe & Appropriate behavior. Respects group leaders and does not interfere with peer efforts. 4 Points Practices Gladiator activity 8-10 times Maintains Safe & Appropriate behavior. Is a group leader and helps keep station group on task. 2 Points Practices Gladiator activity 5-7 times Struggles with Safe & Appropriate behavior and needs constant supervision. Does not respect group leaders and interferes with peer efforts.

    11. Safety & Behavior PRIDE will be practiced daily. Activities will only be done as demonstrated or instructed. Students who do not follow the activity rules and guidelines will be removed with a total loss of points for the day, a phone call home, and a discipline referral.

    12. Additional Information Mats will be used for most activities. Some activities will be done outside. Some activities may require you to take off your shoes. Being barefoot on mats has advantages! Some students like to wear bike shorts/lycra shorts under their PE clothes do to some movement requirements.
