  9. Jeremiah for Today The day of the Lord is coming for all • 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3 1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

  10. Jeremiah for Today • No sin will go unpunished (Jer. 49:12; Rom. 6:23)

  11. Jeremiah for Today No sin will go unpunished • Jeremiah 49:12 For thus saith the Lord; Behold, they whose judgment was not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and art thou he that shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink of it.

  14. Jeremiah for Today Some trust in strength Jeremiah 46:5-6 5 Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled apace, and look not back: for fear was round about, saith the Lord. 6 Let not the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.

  15. Jeremiah for Today Some trust in strength • 1 Timothy 4:7-8 7 But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Jeremiah for Today Some trust in treasures Jeremiah 48:7 For because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken: and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together. 21. Jeremiah for Today Some trust in treasures • 1 Timothy 6:9-10 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

  22. Jeremiah for Today • Some are complacent (Jer. 48:11; Rev. 3:17)

  23. 24. Jeremiah for Today Some are complacent • Revelation 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

  25. Jeremiah for Today • Some are proud (Jer. 48:29-30; 1 Pet. 5:5)

  26. Jeremiah for Today Some are proud • Jeremiah 48:29-30 29 We have heard the pride of Moab, (he is exceeding proud) his loftiness, and his arrogance, and his pride, and the haughtiness of his heart. 30 I know his wrath, saith the Lord; but itshall not be so; his lies shall not so effect it.

  27. Jeremiah for Today Some are proud • 1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

  28. Jeremiah for Today • Some trust in worldly wisdom (Jer. 49:7; 1 Cor. 1:18-19)

  29. Jeremiah for Today Some trust in worldly wisdom • Jeremiah 49:7 Concerning Edom, thus saith the Lord of hosts; Is wisdom no more in Teman? is counsel perished from the prudent? is their wisdom vanished?

  30. Jeremiah for Today Some trust in worldly wisdom • 1 Corinthians 1:18-19 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

  31. Jeremiah for Today • Some rejoice in unrighteousness (Jer. 50:11; 1 Cor. 13:4-6)
