  5. Not just sex determination • The X and Y chromosomes contain the genes that determine male or female sex characteristics • BUT WAIT, THAT’S NOT ALL! • The X chromosome contains alleles for other characteristics

  6. The X-Chromosome • Hemophilia • Color blindness • Baldness • Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy • These X-linked recessive disorders will predominantly affect males. Why?
