  2. Procedure CAUTION: Before beginning, make sure nothing is near your set-up that could be damaged by getting wet! 1. Punch a small hole through the side of the plastic cup near the bottom. 2. Place your thumb over the hole, then fill the cup with water up to the line just below the top rim of the cup. PREDICT: What will happen to the water inside the cup if you remove your thumb from over the hole?RECORD your predictions. 3. Remove your thumb from the hole and allow a small amount of water to stream from the hole and fall into the tub placed directly under the cup.4. Quickly place your thumb over the hole. 5. Refill the cup up to the line just below the top rim of the cup. PREDICT: If you were to release the cup, allowing it to fall toward the tray, will water flow from the hole during its fall? RECORD your predictions. 6. Stand on top of a chair, holding the cup over the tub 7. Let go of the cup. OBSERVE WHAT HAPPENS AND RECORD YOUR OBSERVATION. INFER: Can you provide an explanation for what just happened?
